Types of information we collect

This Privacy Statement covers personal information, non-personal data collection and aggregate reporting.

Personal information is information that is associated with your name or personal identity. Alchemy uses personal information to understand better your needs and interests and to provide you with better service. Once you choose to provide us with personal information, you can be assured it will be used only to support your customer relationship with Alchemy. The types of personal information you might provide to us via our website(s) may include name, address, phone number, e-mail address, user IDs and passwords, billing and transaction information, credit card information, contact preferences, educational and employment background, and job interest data. To personalize our website(s), services or communications and improve our products and services, we may also ask you to provide us with information regarding your personal or professional interests, demographics, and experiences with our products or services.

Non-personal information is data about usage and service operation that is not associated with a specific personal identity. Alchemy collects and analyzes non-personal information to evaluate how visitors use the Alchemy website(s). Non-personal data we collect may include the pages visited on the Alchemy websites, unique URLs1 visited within Alchemy.net, browser type and IP addresses. Most non-personal data is collected via cookies or other analysis technologies. Alchemy.net uses cookies, web beacons and other technologies for data analysis and personalization services.

A cookie is a small text file containing a unique identification number that is transferred from a website to the hard drive of your computer so that the site administrator may identify your computer and passively track its activities on the website. This unique number identifies your Web browser to our computer system whenever you visit our website. A cookie will not allow a website to learn any personally identifiable information (such as your real name and address) that you have not otherwise disclosed.

Children's Privacy

Alchemy is committed to protecting the privacy needs of children and we encourage parents and guardians to take an active role in their children's online activities and interests. Alchemy does not knowingly collect information from children under the age of 13 and Alchemy does not target its website(s) to children under 13.

How does Alchemy use the information it collects?

Any personally identifiable information you share with Alchemy when registering for products and services is maintained and accessible only by Alchemy unless specifically stated otherwise. Alchemy requests information from its users so that users can enjoy customized experiences, including personalization services, interactive and person-specific communications and much more. It will also help Alchemy better prepare future products and services based on your interests.

The following are examples of how Alchemy may use the information it collects:

  • Alchemy collects anonymous data and shares it with third-party advertisers in an aggregate form. We will disclose to those advertisers the numbers of users who have certain demographic characteristics and the number of those people who have seen and "clicked" on a particular display. We will also disclose to those advertisers the overall demographics available regarding who saw and "clicked" on their advertisement. If you registered to receive Alchemy's electronic newsletter (via e-mail) or Alchemy's other products and services, Alchemy or third-party companies may (i) send you email and postal mail about products and services that we feel may be of interest to you, and (ii) may combine information we have about you with information we obtain about you from third parties for the purpose of providing you with more appropriate products, services, and offerings.
  • Personal data given to Alchemy may be transferred across state and country borders for the purposes of data consolidation, storage and simplified customer information management. Non-personal data is aggregated for reporting about Alchemy website usability, performance and effectiveness. It is used to improve the customer experience, usability and site content.

Your choices

Alchemy gives you the choice of receiving a variety of information that complements our products and services. You can subscribe to receive certain product- and service-specific information and Alchemy-wide marketing communications. Alchemy-wide communications may include new product information or special offers.

Third-Party Companies

Be aware that Alchemy might have hyperlinks on the website(s) that take you to external sites. Some of these sites may collect personally identifiable information from you, and may use their advertisements to collect certain information from you, including but not limited to, cookies. Alchemy's Privacy Policy does not cover any third-party data collection practices and Alchemy does not assume any responsibility for any actions of third parties.
